Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Punk Rock Food Drive 14 campaign. Whether you joined us for the show or donated online, your contributions will be felt in the bellies of folks who didn’t know where their next meal was coming from. $4,390 and 1,525 pounds of food were raised and presented to the North County Food Bank. That all adds up to 10,109 meals for families and individuals in San Diego County!
The food bank recently adjusted the amount of meals that a dollar will provide and as you can probably guess, it’s gone down. Increased food costs, fuel costs for fleet, and rising overhead have brought the meal conversion from 5 meals per dollar down to 2.
This is unfortunate for a lot of reasons and it illustrates the need for us to keep it going and try to find creative and helpful ways to escalate our fundraising efforts. It also points to an increased importance on community-based organizers everywhere to help bridge gaps where they exist for those in need around us.
We know there is such a great crew around us each and every year making Punk Rock Food Drive an effort worth pursuing. Thank you for your continued love and support!
